Vicky Kaushal says his mother still beats him, brother Sunny Kaushal: ‘Happens quite often’

Actors and brothers Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal shared some of their childhood stories in the latest episode of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’. During the episode, Vicky talked about how he and Sunny used to get a good beating from their mother, Veena Kaushal. They said she still beats them often. But their father Sham Kaushal, a renowned action director from Bollywood, punished them only on ‘special occasions’.

During the show, Archana Puran Singh asked the Kaushal brothers, “Are any of you beaten up at home?” Sunny replied, “Both of us.” Vicky added: ‘My mother punished us regularly.’ Sunny interrupted and said, “She still does.”

Vicky continued, “It happens quite often that she leaves (slap hand gesture).” But for Dad, there were a few important events every year. And they came about four to five times a year. They would be important and memorable.”

While Vicky shared the information, Kapil Sharma joked that Sham Kaushal as an action director would have known better ways to take on Sunny and Vicky.

Earlier, Vicky had talked about learning the meaning of masculinity from his father Sham. During an interview with ‘We Are Yuvaa’, the ‘Uri’ actor said, “He (Sham) tried to make us emotionally strong. He openly told us, ‘I felt humiliated on the set today and I came back and cried to your mother.’ That’s what he said to us when we were kids And my mother told us that a senior had scolded him in front of the whole set when he was just a stuntman And he came home and cried So this was never the case Hidden from us .And he wept for us.”

Vicky Kaushal is currently busy with the shooting of his film ‘Chhava’. He will essay the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the film. His last film, ‘Sam Bahadur’, earned him critical acclaim and commercial success.
