Egypt and Belarus sign memoranda to boost economic cooperation

The annual trade exchange between Egypt and Belarus averages $95 million.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko signed a memorandum of understanding to boost economic cooperation between Belarus and Egypt, especially in the areas of investment, trade and tourism.

At a joint press conference, Prime Minister Madbouli expressed plans for a mutually beneficial exchange of experiences in water technology, citing the fact that a significant part of the machinery used in Egypt’s agricultural industry is imported from Belarus.

The annual trade exchange between Egypt and Belarus averages $95 million. Egypt is the second most popular destination for Belarusian tourists. In addition, Egypt routinely imports tractors, trucks, tires, metals, fertilizers, X-ray equipment, petrochemicals, agricultural products and pharmaceuticals from Belarus. Belarus, in turn, imports citrus fruits, aromatic plants, pharmaceutical products and clothing from Egypt, the State Information Service said.
