TY Danjuma wants Nigerians to use culture to strengthen national cohesion

FORMER Secretary of Defense, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) has identified culture and tradition as veritable instruments for strengthening unity, national cohesion and integration among Nigerians.

He stated this in a message to the Zuru Emirate Uhola Cultural Festival and Agricultural Show 2024, which was held in the Zuru Emirate Kebbi on Saturday.

Danjuma, who was represented by the President of the Middle Belt Forum, Dr. Bitrus Bagu, who also chaired the Uhola Festival 2024, stated that he also witnessed the festival’s agricultural show, which showcased indigenous technology and created an unprecedented presentation of agricultural products.

The ex-minister said the event had showcased the beauty and richness of the country’s cultural values ​​to the outside world with a positive impact on the Nigerian tourism landscape.

He recommended the establishment of a Uhola Festival Development Fund to create sources of financing, with the approval of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA).

For his part, the Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi thanked Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi for providing financial support to organize the event.

He also praised the Emir of Zuru, the retired Major General. Muhammad Sani-Sami, for being the great custodian of Zuru culture and tradition.

“The concept of the Uhola festival has been expanded to attract global attention for tourism and economic development,” he said.

Bamaiyi thanked the Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu for including Uhola in the NTDA national cultural events calendar.

The Chairman appealed to the Federal Government to expedite the rehabilitation of Zaima-Zuru Road, Kontagora-Zuru Road and KoKo-Zuru Road, saying all roads were in a critical state of disrepair, which negatively affected the economic activities of the entire emirate. . (NAN)
