Arsenal identify Isak as top target

According to The independentthe Gunners have now made the Swedish marksman their target for the upcoming transfer window.

The report suggests Arsenal considered a move in the January window but opted not to pursue a deal due to their concerns over the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The Gunners are now ready to ramp up their interest in the summer and have set a maximum fee they are willing to pay to sign him from Newcastle.

However, they are keen to avoid a protracted saga and will move on to other targets if they do not make progress in negotiations with Newcastle.

Will Newcastle sell Isak?

There is a suggestion that Newcastle could sanction Isak’s departure to raise money for transfers due to the restrictions caused by PSR regulations.

However, the Magpies are determined to keep the 24-year-old and could look to offer him a new contract in a bid to fend off potential suitors.

The Swedish international is having a productive season, scoring 23 goals in 36 competitive games Eddie Howe‘s side.

With 19 of those goals coming in the top flight, Isak is currently tied for third place in the Premier League scoring charts with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

In total, Isak has scored 33 goals in 63 appearances at Newcastle since joining from Real Sociedad for £63m in 2022.
