Only two hospitals in Missouri received a “D” rating, the lowest in the state

When it comes to hospital safety, you definitely want to achieve a passing grade. Two Missouri hospitals received a ‘D’ rating in a new ranking of all health care facilities in the state.

I was educated in Missouri and I prefer not to share the grades I received during my time in school, so I may not be the appropriate messenger to share grades from others. However, hospital safety is an important metric and it can help someone make a crucial decision, so I will forego my fear of educational restrictions.

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade used a number of metrics to determine how safe (or not) patients are in Missouri hospitals. Here are the 3 categories they stated they were focusing on:

  • How well a Missouri hospital is doing at stopping infections and washing hands
  • Patient safety and support for the staff caring for them
  • How well does a Missouri hospital protect against mistakes?

Only two hospitals in Missouri received a ‘D’ rating and here they are:

Both hospitals in Missouri have reportedly had this problems with infections according to the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade report.

It’s also worth noting that the report appears to be based on recent information, as the data shows it covers incidents as recent as late last year.

I’m certainly not a medical expert, but I would highly recommend that you make medical decisions not just based on one website report, but on multiple reports, and make sure you do your own research before putting your health in your hands of a hospital.
