Customers of British Gas, Ecotricity E.ON Next and EDF will soon all be eligible to participate in the scheme. By owning a share of clean energy sources, the signed savings will be applied directly to their household or business bills.

The news significantly increases coverage of Ripple Energy, which was previously only available to those with a contract linking them to the Octopus-powered Your Co-Op Energy or Unify Energy. Going forward, once the new agreements with the next four suppliers are in place, 70% of UK renters and homeowners will be able to be involved.

“Our mission has always been to make clean energy ownership available to everyone, everywhere. It shouldn’t matter whether you live near a renewable energy site or not, live in a condo or bungalow, own or rent your home,” said Sarah Merrick, Founder and CEO of Ripple Energy. ‘Working with more of them. Britain’s leading energy suppliers will not only support this mission, but also demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and delivering value to their customers. Action to accelerate the UK’s clean energy transition is more important than ever. Partnerships like this can play a crucial role in making renewable energy accessible to everyone.”

‘At E.ON Next we know that people want to get more out of their energy and adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. “Working with Ripple gives our customers even easier ways to play their part in – and benefit from – everything and everyone powered by sustainable energy,” said Julian Lennertz, Chief Commercial Officer at E.ON Next. ‘Building cleaner energy sources is in our DNA: we built our first wind farm over 30 years ago, we were behind the very first offshore wind farm in Britain and we are now one of the largest installers of solar panels and EV chargers in the UK -Britain. and heat pumps, allowing our customers to generate their own clean, sustainable energy.’

Ripple Energy already operates a number of UK sites, with more in development. These include Kirk Hill Wind Farm, Ayrshire, Scotland. The facility is Britain’s largest community wind farm. £2.8 million in expected profits have been committed to sustainability and environmental projects in the area, which will not affect bill grants and future payments to investors. A fourth site is now in the planning stages and anyone eligible can now invest in a 14-turbine wind farm at Whitelaw Brae in the Scottish Borders.
