TAP is committed to food security among communities in need

An independent charity powered by Oando employees (#HumansOfOando), The Aggregator Program (TAP), has reiterated its commitment to alleviating hunger in Nigeria’s most vulnerable communities through feeding programs.

Established in April 2020, TAP was designed as a short-term solution to alleviate hunger during the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. The initiative recognized that a huge gap existed despite contributions and efforts by government, public and private sector players and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to feed the less fortunate.

Through TAP, the people of Oando have continued to rally donors to keep the business thriving and celebrated the charity’s fourth anniversary this weekend.

TAP said in a statement to LEADERSHIP: “Since its inception, the program has evolved its approach to combating hunger through its initiative to Feed, Empower and Uplift to ensure that a portion of the individuals who benefit from the food program also teaches a skill and is therefore equipped to generate income for themselves.

“In its four years of feeding and empowering Nigerians, TAP has managed to reduce incidents of food insecurity among poor communities by positively impacting about 8,645 households, 37,550 individuals in over 33 communities in Lagos, all achieved through leveraging its 11 implementing partners such as Lagos Food Bank, Abraham’s Tent, Project Ark, JAKINS, Siddiqah Foundation and others.”

It also said: “To achieve the following food donation campaigns over the past year, TAP partnered with the Siddiqah Foundation, a personal and community development organization created to impact lives around the world through supporting and empowering stigmatized groups. The purpose of these actions was to donate food and other essential items to people in need.”

It added that as TAP celebrates four years of meaningful impact and community engagement, it remains committed to its mission of not only alleviating hunger but also improving the lives of beneficiaries through skills development , adding that TAP’s continued success is a testament to the collective effort of the people of Oando who donate and volunteer, and its implementing partners, all who share the vision of hunger relief among the most vulnerable in Nigeria.

Looking ahead, the statement says: “TAP remains committed to expanding its reach and deepening its impact, ensuring that every contribution helps feed more families, empower more individuals and uplift more communities.”
