Abducted bench judge recovered in North Waziristan

Abducted Sessions Judge Shakirullah Marwat has been recovered in North Waziristan district, a private TV channel reported late on Sunday citing sources.

According to the report, security forces launched a joint operation and secured his release.

The sources added that the judge was transferred to CTD to complete the legal formalities.

The judge was reportedly on his way from Tank to DIK when unknown people kidnapped him. The kidnappers made the judge get out of the vehicle and took him away.

They left behind his guard and driver. Unknown armed men set his vehicle on fire.

A video surfaced in which the judge claimed that the Taliban had kidnapped him. In the images, he called on the authorities concerned to meet the demands of his captors.

As soon as the incident was reported, the Tank District Police Officer (DPO) immediately reached the scene along with a large contingent of police officers and started the search operation.

Taking note of this, the Peshawar High Court called on the authorities concerned to secure the judge’s release at the earliest.
