East Leake Academy Year 8 visit the National Space Center in Leicester

As part of East Leake Academy’s Science Enrichment Programme, Year 8 pupils recently ventured to the stars at the National Space Center in Leicester.

This immersive experience not only broadened their understanding of our universe, but also ignited their passion for space exploration.

Using the latest technology, students were taken on a journey through our own solar system. Around the darkened dome, they marveled at the wonders of each planet, from the scorching heat of Mercury to the icy depths of Neptune. This immersive experience left them in awe as they learned fascinating facts about the eight planets.

A visit to the Rocket Tower and its six interactive galleries provided further enrichment. Here students explored the intricacies of rocket technology. From the early days of space exploration to the latest developments in rocket propulsion, they gained a deeper appreciation for the ingenuity and dedication of scientists and engineers.

During the field trip, students were inspired to think beyond the boundaries of our planet and consider humanity’s place in the cosmos. By participating in hands-on exhibitions and interactive presentations, they not only expanded their scientific knowledge, but also nurtured a sense of wonder and curiosity about the universe.

As they left the National Space Center, the students carried with them memories of an unforgettable journey – one that sparked their imaginations and instilled a newfound appreciation for the vastness and beauty of space.
