Gluten-free festival coming to Milazzo, Sicily in April 2024

Milazzo, Sicily – The “Gluten Free Festival – The Taste for Freedom” will take place on April 27 and 28, 2024 in Caio Duilio Square in Milazzo. This exclusive event, organized by Sicily Event with the support of the Municipality of Milazzo and collaboration of several local associations and entities, aims to promote a healthy and inclusive lifestyle while celebrating excellent gluten-free cuisine.

The festival will offer important moments of exchange and insights with experts in the field of celiac disease, including Claudio Romano, director of pediatric gastroenterology and cystic fibrosis at the University of Messina, and dietician Mary Urso. For the first time in southern Italy, space will be given to celiac patients who often face food discrimination in society.

Visitors can look forward to a gluten-free food village with companies from all over Sicily, entertainment for children, live music performances and a DJ set to close the event. Renowned local chefs will also provide show cooking demonstrations to highlight the delicious possibilities of gluten-free cooking.

President of AIC Sicilia, Paolo Baronello, expressed his gratitude for the support of the Municipality of Milazzo and emphasized the importance of the festival in promoting inclusivity and diversity. The mayor of Milazzo, Pippo Midili, sees the event as an important opportunity for the city to raise awareness of celiac disease and showcase its natural beauty to visitors.

The Italian Celiac Association (AIC), one of the event organizers, was founded in 1979 to provide support and assistance to people with celiac disease. Today, AIC represents celiac patients nationally and supports projects to improve their quality of life.
