Supreme Court Collegium recommends Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal for another term as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh

The Supreme Court of India has recommended this Judge Wasim Sadiq Nargal for another term as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

“The Collegium resolves to recommend that Mr. Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Additional Judge, be appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for a further term of one year, with effect from June 3, 2024,” reads the resolution adopted by the Collegium, consisting of Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud alongside Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai.

Earlier on February 21, 2024, the Collegium of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh had recommended appointment of Justice Nargal as Additional Judge for another term as there was no vacancy of a permanent Judge available.

Subsequently, the Collegium, after a thorough assessment in accordance with the Memorandum of Procedure, confirmed the merits and suitability of Judge Nargal for the esteemed position.

“A committee of two judges of the Supreme Court, constituted by the Chief Justice of India in terms of the Resolution dated 26 October 2017 of the Collegium of the Supreme Court, reviewed the judgments of Mr. Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal. The committee assessed the quality of its judgments as “good”, reads the resolution.

In view of these credentials, the Collegium has decided to recommend Mr. Justice Nargal, Additional Judge, for appointment as Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for a further term of one year, with effect from June 3 2024.
