Pervez Elahi has been ordered under house arrest by the court

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a reserved verdict on former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s plea to either be shifted to a hospital or have his house declared a sub-jail. The court ordered his house arrest within fifteen days. Judge Arbab Muhammad Tahir handed down the sentence at the request of Pervez Elahi’s wife, Qaisara Elahi.

Moreover, the IHC has directed that Pervez Elahi be provided with medical facilities as per his preferences. In addition, the Ministry of the Interior has been instructed to complete the procedure for his house arrest within the stipulated period of fifteen days.

Earlier, on May 2, the IHC had reserved its decision on the petition against the transfer of Pervez Elahi from Adiala Jail to Lahore. During the previous hearing, the court had directed the medical board of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital to reassess the health condition of the former Punjab chief minister.
