American tourist robbed in terrifying attack in Kerry town

The terrifying ordeal took place at around 8.40pm when the woman was brutally knocked to the ground as she walked along Port Road, close to the city centre.

The woman was attacked by a lone man who grabbed her handbag and fled the scene, jumping over a wall near the Deenagh River to escape. It is understood he dropped the bag but stole money as he escaped the scene.

The woman is said to have suffered injuries during the gruesome ideal, including possible head injuries and a broken arm.

The Kerryman understands that the woman is on holiday in Kerry with her husband.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
