The Celebration Age Senior Living Expo: will take place on Friday, May 3 from 9am to 1pm at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack in Chester. The 2024 Older Americans Month theme is “Powered by Connection,” focusing on connections and the impact it has on older adults as they age. Vendors at the show include home health agencies, health care systems, county agencies, senior centers, attorneys and more. Guests at the fair can ask questions about medications to a PerformRx pharmacist. The community is welcome to attend the free event and no registration is required. Elite collegiate scheduling: will host a free college planning workshop for parents in the Delaware County area to provide parents with insider secrets and essential information to maximize the financial aid process and support their children’s journey to higher education. The workshop is Tuesday, April 30 at 6:00 PM at the Marple Public Library, 2599 Sproul Road, Broomall. Interested parents are encouraged to pre-register at https://hubs.ly/Q02tm6FM0. Tyler Arboretum: will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day. The free plant sale takes place outside, rain or shine, and has the largest selection of plants yet. Garden experts are on hand to provide advice on plant selection, planting and care tips and the best types of companion plants. hoppers can purposefully explore the diverse selection of plants, carefully chosen for the benefit of birds, pollinators and people. The plant sale’s large selection offers something for every budget and taste, including trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, herbs and vegetables. Parish of St. Bernadette of Lourdes: 1001 Turner Ave., Drexel Hill, will host its first-ever trade show April 24-27. Opening hours are from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 25; and Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Bishop John McIntyre will be at St. Bernadette’s on Wednesday evening to kick off the fair. Ride bands, good for one day at the fair for all rides all night, will be available for purchase at the fair for $25. The fair features exciting attractions, delicious treats, a DJ and games. Free legal clinic on wills, health care directives and more: Thursday, April 25 at Brookhaven Municipal Center, 2 Cambridge Road from 10am to 4pm. During the workshop, residents aged 60 or over, who meet Legal Aid’s income guidelines, can get help with simple wills, durable powers of attorney and healthcare directives at No Cost. Gardeners are invited: to a sale of native plants at wholesale prices with perennials, ferns, grasses and woodies. Saturday April 27 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Monsignor Bonner Archbishop Prendergast Class of 1974: is planning a 50th class reunion on Friday, September 27 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Paxon Hallow Country Club, 850 Paxon Hollow Road, Broomall. Tickets cost $100 each. The MBAP Reunion Committee is currently seeking current email addresses to send notices with the details. Chichester class of 1964: will celebrate its 60-year reunion on Sunday, September 29 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Irish Eyes Pub, 213 Anglers Road, Lewes, Delaware. Other Chichester classes and their guests are also invited. The cost is $60, which includes a buffet and cash bar. Every child needs a champion: Learn more about how to become a child advocate with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Our mission is to empower community volunteers to connect with and advocate for children and youth involved in the child welfare system, advocating for equity, resources, stability and sustainability. We envision a bright future where all children and young people have the resilience, consistent relationships with caring adults and access to child welfare, education, health and social services they need to fully experience the joys of childhood and pursue their dreams to strive for. Nar-Anon Family Group: Courage to Live meets every Wednesday at 10am at the Brookhaven Municipal Center, 2 Cambridge Road, Brookhaven. Anyone affected by a loved one’s addiction is welcome. The meeting is wheelchair accessible.

Delaware County Victim Assistance Center: in Media has been providing services to victims of sexual violence and their significant others since 1974. The nonprofit relies on volunteers to meet clients’ needs 24 hours a day. Services include guidance during hospital/police interrogations and telephone crisis intervention. Volunteers receive 40 hours of training to prepare them for their responsibilities and are asked to provide support on an evening or weekend shift at least twice a month. The center offers free: and confidential counseling, in person and through a 24-hour hotline, for victims of sexual violence. It provides medical, police and judicial guidance. The center also facilitates support groups for adult sexual assault survivors, adult rape survivors and teen sexual assault survivors. St Pius X Over 50 Travel Club: hosts a trip to the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia on Wednesday, May 1, to see “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.” The bus will depart from the St Pius X car park on Lawrence Road in Broomall at 12.30pm for the 2pm show. After the show, the bus heads to Spasso’s Italian Grill Restaurant in Philadelphia for dinner and then returns home at approximately 7:45 PM. The cost is $189, including driver gratuity.
