At Malad’s Diamond Market area, the Union Commerce and Industry Minister started his speech in Gujarati and spoke about how taxes paid by citizens, businessmen and traders have boosted Mumbai with infrastructure projects, be it the Metro or the Atal Setu. The diamond traders also praised the Center for improving ease of doing business in recent years.

Along with an entourage of BJP workers on bikes and in cars, Goyal later went to Kandivali East, where he opened a party office. “Itne log jama karna kitni mushkil baat hai (It is so difficult to get so many people together). This is a peak time of the day for businesses,” he said, while also appreciating the valuable contribution of the business community.

“India is ranked fifth in the world by GDP and Modiji’s third term will take India to third place,” Goyal said, before criticizing the previous Congress-led government for not doing much for business.
