Two youths drown at Sodigedde beach in Bhatkal while picnicking with family »Bhatkallys

Bhatkal: April 21, 2024 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) In a tragic incident reported on Sunday at Sodigedde in Bhatkal, two youths died after drowning while swimming here.

The deceased have been identified as Inamullah (14), son of Moulana Niyamathullah Askeri, and Kashif Ruknuddin (22), son of Ibrahim Ruknuddin, both residents of Bhatkal.

According to the reports, both Kashif and Inamullah were picnicking with their families when the incident took place. Reports added that Inamullah stepped into the water to swim before becoming stuck in the waves and drowning.

Kashif jumped into the water after seeing Inamullah calling for help, but unfortunately he too found himself drowning.

When local fishermen were alerted by the family’s cry for help, they were rescued and brought Inamullah ashore. However, Inamullah breathed his last before reaching the hospital.

As soon as news of the incident circulated on local social media groups, hundreds of people flocked to Sodigedde beach and began a rescue operation for the missing Kashif.

At the time of posting this report, Kashif had not been traced and a rescue operation was underway.
