Awra Briguela apologizes to family and people she wronged after ‘nightmare’

Almost a year after her Makati fighting incidentAwra Briguela asked for forgiveness from her family and the people involved, saying that she was the classes she spent the rest of her life learning.

Briguela, who uses she/her pronouns, wrote an open letter via her Instagram page on Tuesday, May 7, in which she began by addressing her family.

The actress apologized to her parents for not having the courage to face her issues with them and instead opting for a temporary solution.

“If you are a Hindi girl, you want to make a mapanuod or a sitwasyong hindi maganda,” she said. “Patawad kung na dismaya ko kayo sa maraming bagay. Patawad kung nagbago ako at nag-iba ang ugali ko.”

“Alam kong hindi magiging madali pero pipilitin kong magbago at susubukan kong ayusin ang mga desisyon ko sa buhay,” she continued. “It may take a long time for the mapago to lie on Bigyan and the magbago of the pagkakataon magbago is used at bumawi if it is pagkakamali to become pagkakataon to help hindi ko na sasayangin.”

Briguela then addressed “those involved” without mentioning the incident. She further noted that they settled things privately and said she is grateful she had the opportunity to do so.

“To those involved, I would also humbly ask for your forgiveness. The mistakes and all the damage that was done were mine and I am willing to take responsibility and accountability,” she admitted. “(I) will look at all of this as a lesson that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

Briguela also expressed her regret as she lamented having let her supporters down and vowed to “correct, resolve and admit her mistakes.”

“I know it will take a lot of time for you all to forgive me, but please know that I am also taking the time to forgive myself,” she said.

Concluding her letter, Briguela told herself that she had let her emotions consume her.

“I’m sorry that at some point (in) our lives we lost our spark and I’m very sorry (for) not taking care of ourselves. “All of this is such a real nightmare and I don’t want fear to take over again,” she said. “This was definitely a big lesson for me.”

Briguela was arrested in June 2023 after she got into an argument with several people at a bar in Poblacion, Makati. She was released a month later.

The actress also previously opened up about the incident, stating that she “became better and stronger” after admitting her mistakes.
