Moses Lake officer shot and injured during domestic incident

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office will take over the case.

Moses Lake Police Officer was hit by a bullet during a DV call Saturday evening

Around 8:20 p.m., Moses Lake Police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at Motel 6. During the response, an exchange of gunfire occurred between a suspect and police.

An MLPD officer was hit by a bullet and the suspect was also injured. The officer underwent surgery and is recovering, the suspect was treated at Samaritan Hospital and released to police.

The GCSO will take over the investigation and they identified the suspect as 37-year-old Zachary Allen Stockton. According to the GCSO:

“The investigation into this officer-involved shooting is being handled by the Central Basin Investigative Team (CBIT), an independent investigative team composed of detectives from agencies within Grant, Adams and Kittitas counties. No Moses Lake Police Department detectives will participate in the shooting. the investigation, according to state law.”

No other details have been released yet.
