Donald Trump waves to the crowd and salutes during the national anthem during the F1 Grand Prix of Miami

Among the many celebrities who descended on South Beach for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Miami was former President Trump.

The 45th president and 2024 Republican presidential candidate were seen waving and saluting to fans during the national anthem before the third annual Grand Prix got underway.

Trump was also seen walking through the stadium tunnels and taking time to acknowledge the media as he walked through the venue.

Trump’s deputy communications chief Margo Martin shared videos of him on X, one of which showed a crowd chanting “USA” as he arrived in the pit lane outside the McLaren Racing garage.

As the race started, Martin also showed Trump staring at the track while wearing his signature red “Make America Great Again” hat.

Trump was just one of several big names in Miami for the Formula 1 race, as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Patrick Mahomes were among the celebrities in attendance.

Tom Garfinkel, CEO of the Miami Dolphins and managing general partner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Miami, did not reveal whether Trump or other celebrities would be seen at the race due to security concerns.

“For security and privacy reasons, I am not allowed to reveal the attendees,” Garfinkel told USA Today. “We don’t talk about communicating with people, but I will say that there will be no fundraisers at the event.”

Controversy arose prior to Trump’s arrival when one of his supporters, Steve Witkoff, wanted to sell his tickets to his suite at the Paddock Club for $250,000, which would go to Trump’s 2024 campaign. However, that was quickly shot down by race officials, who sent Witkoff a letter.

“Political campaigning has its place, and it does not suit our race,” reads a letter on social media. “We welcome you and your guests to attend our event and enjoy your suite. However, we respectfully request that this is done in accordance with our very clear licensing agreement.”
