The Calgary Stampeders issued defensive backs Jonathan Moxey and Julian Charles on Friday.

Jonathan Moxey is five feet tall and weighs 197 pounds. The 29-year-old from West Palm Beach, Florida, made 18 tackles and one interception in 16 games for the Calgary Stampeders in 2023. The Stampeders signed Moxey as a free agent on June 24, 2019.

Moxey played four seasons in Calgary and made 70 tackles, 8 special teams tackles and three interceptions in 50 games. Moxey was named a CFL West All-Star in 2022 after making 26 tackles and two tackles on special teams.

Before Calgary, Moxey signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on May 1, 2017 and was placed on the practice squad. He also spent time on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.

Collegiately, Moxey four seasons at Boise State (2013-16) with 134 tackles (109 solo, 25 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, 34 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery , 12 kick returns for 258 yards, and one punt return for nine yards in 52 games for the Broncos.

In his senior season, Moxey had 50 tackles (43 solo, 7 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, 13 pass breakups, one punt return for nine yards and 12 kick returns for 258 yards in 13 games. In 2016, he was named Second Team All-Mountain West Conference.

Julian Charles is five feet tall and weighs 204 pounds. The 26-year-old from Dallas, Texas signed with the Calgary Stampeders on March 20, 2023 and was placed on the practice squad. Before Calgary, Charles played for the Glacier Boyz (FCF) in 2022 with 26 tackles and one interception. He also played for the Jousters (TSL) in 2021.

Collegiately, Charles played two seasons at Mississippi College (2016-17) with 61 tackles (44 solo, 17 assists), 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 19 games for the Choctaws. In his senior season, he made 28 tackles (20 solo, 8 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in nine games.
