The Departure of Tourism (DoT) and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) recently reached an agreement on a possible partnership in the field of tourism and economic growth.

A meeting with DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and CCCI officials led by new President Jay Yuvallos discussed programs and cooperation, including the Cebu Business Month (CBM), which aims to promote and enhance Cebu’s business sector to let grow. CBM is CCCI’s flagship project.

Frasco has welcomed CCCI’s proposals with optimism, saying the DOT’s aim is to equalize tourism opportunities in all regions.

She also called for CCCI to help further promote English as a second language and the diving industry, while emphasizing that the business organization can help develop Cebu Island into a premier wedding and MICE destination to tap into the source markets to target.

The DOT described the CBM as an annual event held every June to celebrate Cebu’s entrepreneurial spirit and showcase the region’s diverse and dynamic business community.

CBM offers a range of programs and activities targeting different audiences including business owners, entrepreneurs, investors and the general public in the areas of tourism, ICT-BPM/technology, entrepreneurship and creative entertainment.

On its part, the CCCI has expressed openness to helping DoT highlight the importance of creating a high-quality business ecosystem that would benefit the local tourism industry.
