In response to the fire, Chef Jay John, owner of Dat Fire, released a statement Sunday expressing his gratitude for the safety of everyone involved. He said: “Yesterday the unthinkable happened. Our flagship restaurant suffered significant damage as a result of an accidental fire. Thanks to the quick action of our staff and emergency services, fortunately no one was injured in the incident.”

Despite the setback, Chef Jay John conveyed the restaurant’s determination to rebuild and continue to serve the Atlanta community. He announced the launch of the #DatFireWillRiseAgain campaign to facilitate donations for the rebuilding effort.

To show their commitment and resilience, Dat Fire Jerk Chicken will have a food truck with a limited menu in the restaurant parking lot on Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. John says the event will be both a symbol of perseverance and an opportunity for the community to support the restaurant’s restoration efforts by purchasing meals or making donations.

“Yesterday the unthinkable happened. Our flagship restaurant suffered significant damage due to an accidental fire. Thanks to the quick action of our staff and emergency services, fortunately no one was injured in the incident, but the destruction of a blossoming dream burned down. But despite a situation that would break us under most circumstances, our spirits remain unbroken and we are ready for the challenge of rebuilding the dream fueled by the support and love we continue to receive from the Atlanta Community.

We are hopeful and committed to rebuilding and reopening the restaurant as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will continue to serve the Atlanta community through our food truck, which launched last year. The food truck is fully operational and remains available for private bookings, but will also follow a public schedule which we will announce on our website and social media platforms shortly.

This is a very unfortunate incident, but what brings us joy right now is the love and support shown to us by our loyal customers and community. From the moment our story hit the news until now, people have asked how they can help us during this critical phase. That’s why we have the #DatFireWillRiseAgain campaign, which is hosted through a GoFundMe page we set up to allow donations for our rebuilding efforts. From that page, the community can learn more about the key areas for our fundraising, find details on how and where we will serve our delicious menu, and make donations to help support our business and our employees as we continue to grow Dat Fire in its old restore state. glory, and maybe even make it better!

Dat Fire is more than just a restaurant; it’s a gathering place cherished by the Atlanta community and loved for our rage atmosphere and our service, delivered by a team that feels more like family to everyone who walks through our doors. We will keep everyone informed every step of the way as we rebuild and we look forward to welcoming Atlanta back to the restaurant soon!”
