Celebrities reportedly banned from the Met Gala

’90s heartthrob Josh Hartnett wasn’t deemed relevant enough for the 2016 Met Gala, documentary The first Monday in May, which took the audience behind the scenes of the event.

The documentary featured a Vogue employee responding to Calvin Klein’s request to dress up the dress Pearl harbour star and make him sit at his table and say, ‘What has he been doing lately? Nothing. You’re all ready.’

Rachel Zoe

It is widely speculated that designer Rachel Zoe was indefinitely disinvited from the Met Gala after making comments that likely didn’t sit well with Met Gala organizer and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

“Anna Wintour is one of my heroes, but they say I am more influential. As great as it is, Vogue won’t change a designer’s business,” Zoe told the paper New York Times in 2007.

However, Zoë attended the event in 2010 and 2012, so we’re not sure if this so-called “ban” is real!

Lili Reinhart

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart attended the Met Gala in 2018, 2019 and 2021, but later speculated that she would not be invited back after criticizing Met Gala royalty Kim Kardashian for her comments about following an extreme diet to fit in in the Marilyn Monroe dress she wore. 2022.

“I don’t think I’ll be invited back,” Reinhart said W magazine in 2022. “I said something about a certain person in a certain dress.”

Indeed, Reinhart did not attend the 2023 Met Gala.

Celebrity fashion host and author Tim Gunn confirmed he has been banned from the Met Gala during a 2016 appearance on E! Entertainment Fashion police when host Joan Rivers asked if the rumors about his ban were true.

“It’s very true. It’s a crazy story, and as far as I’m concerned, a very business story,” he said. “I was asked what was the most unforgettable thing I’ve ever seen in fashion and I said, ‘It’s easy. I saw Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two bodyguards – two big, hulking men – during a fashion show.” All hell broke loose. It was insane. We have had open war ever since.”

Donald Trump

Trump was once a regular at the fashion event and it’s even where he proposed to his wife Melania! But during a performance in 2017 on The Late Show with James Corden, Anna Wintour confirmed that Trump is the one person she would never invite to the event.

We suspect that after Wintour’s explicit criticism of Trump, his wife is unlikely to appear at the event again anytime soon.

Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump’s last appearance at the Met Gala was about a year before Wintour made it clear that her father was no longer welcome, so we’re guessing the ban extended to the entire family.

Ironically, Ivanka’s brother-in-law Josh Kushner is a regular attendee at the Met Gala thanks to his supermodel wife Karlie Kloss, who reportedly has a strained relationship with the former president’s daughter.
