Five Indian Air Force (AIF) soldiers were injured on Saturday evening after militants opened fire on an IAF vehicle convoy in the Poonch area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said the attack took place when the convoy was heading to Sanai Top in the Surankote area of ​​the district.

Two injured soldiers were said to be in critical condition and were rushed to hospital.

A large-scale search has been launched

A massive search operation has been launched to locate and neutralize the terrorists, and the armed forces have called for army and police reinforcements.

According to reports, the local Rashtriya Rifles unit has also started cordon and search operations in the area.

Meanwhile, security has been increased around the Sanai area at Jaran Wali Gali in Surankot, with staff closely inspecting every vehicle.

Second attack on security forces in Poonch

The attack on the IAF convoy on Saturday marks the second such attack on security forces in the Poonch area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir.

In January, suspected terrorists opened fire on a convoy of vehicles near Krishna Ghati in Poonch district.

The vehicles transported security personnel back to the camp.

However, no security personnel were injured in that attack.
