SBA wrongly denied concert promoter a $5 million Covid-19 grant

The Small Business Administration should reconsider denying a grant to a company that helps organize concert tours under a program to help small businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act allocated more than $15 billion to the SBA to pay out “Shuttered Venue Operators Grants” to small businesses impacted by the pandemic.

The SBA improperly applied the law to Concert Investor Inc. – a company that has collaborated with artists such as Twenty One Pilots, Little Big Town and OAR – by misinterpreting language and ignoring various pieces of evidence.
