Arrest made in December 2023 Shooting death of man in Long Beach

A parolee has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the December 2023 shooting of a man in Long Beach that also injured another man, authorities said Friday.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 200 block of Eagle Street on Dec. 21, 2023, around 10:20 p.m., where two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds, Long Beach police reported. Ismael Cuevas, 28, of Long Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man was taken to a hospital but survived, police said.

Detectives arrested parolee Bryan Lopez, 42, of Long Beach around 7:50 a.m. Thursday. He was located near the 2800 block of Pacific Avenue, police said.
