Three bodies found in Mexico where Australian brothers and US citizens went missing

Mexico City: Mexican authorities have located three bodies in an area of ​​northern Mexico where two Australians and an American were reported missing in Baja California, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.

Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and American Jack Carter Rhoad were last seen on April 27, according to the Baja California prosecutor’s office.

The three were vacationing surfing in the community of Ensenada, about an hour and a half south of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Australians and the US national were traveling when the trio failed to reach pre-arranged accommodation.

Baja California is one of the most violent states in Mexico.

Earlier, a white ute matching the description of a vehicle the three men had used to travel around the Baja California peninsula in northwestern Mexico was found burned out on a ranch in the Santo Tomas area.

A woman and two men, all Mexican, have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of the three men. Authorities said the detained woman, 23, was found with drugs and a cell phone.

The US Embassy in Mexico and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in Canberra did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
