Sedalia Police Reports for May 3, 2024

Sedalia Police took a report the morning of April 26 from Paul Jones of Burns Chapel, 209 East Pettis Street. Jones reported a property destruction incident. Someone had emptied sandbags holding a large wooden cross and then pushed the cross to the ground. No other damage was observed.


Tuesday evening, officers responded to the 300 block of West 7th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim. The victim stated that they had a physical altercation with the intoxicated suspect, during which they suffered injuries. Shon L. Stutes, 52, homeless, was arrested on a charge of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Stutes was transported to the Pettis County Jail and held for 24 hours.


Officers contacted a driver in the 500 block of East 13th Street early Friday morning. The driver’s details were checked and it was determined that their driver’s license had been revoked. Empelina Deitas Alexander, 44, of Sedalia was arrested on a charge of driving while suspended. Alexander was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

Early Friday morning, Albert Wilson Neyhart Jr. was reported theft. Officers recorded the call and noted it occurred in front of the Break Time store, 318 West Broadway Boulevard. A cell phone worth $200 and a charger worth $12 were stolen from outside the business. A report documented the incident.


Thursday evening, Sedalia Police responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of theft by a person. When officers arrived on scene, the woman was located among Wal Mart employees. The woman was caught stealing after she was observed hiding several items in a bag. Then she walked to the doors, past all the sales points. Jennifer Danelle Hollobaugh, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting. Hollobaugh was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


Sedalia Police responded to the 700 block of Ivy Lane Thursday evening to investigate a violation of a protective order. Officers contacted the victim, who said she had an ex-parte against her husband. It was served shortly before the messages were received. She showed the officers the messages, timestamped after the warrant was served. This is a violation of the order, which does not include communications. Agents request the state to file charges for violation of a court order.


Officers were dispatched Thursday afternoon to a report of possible harassment in the 900 block of East 3rd Street. Officers spoke with the reporter, obtained information and submitted a general information report.


Thursday afternoon, officers responded to the 300 block of West 3rd Street for a report of a person threatening to shoot themselves. Upon arrival, officers located the man and were able to transport him to Bothwell Regional Health Center for mental health treatment. No fees are charged.
