Bali’s immigration department arrests Tanzanian and Ugandan foreigners in connection with prostitution cases

DENPASAR – The Ngurah Rai Immigration Bureau, Badung Regency, Bali, has arrested two foreign nationals (foreigners) from Tanzania and Uganda for allegedly being involved in prostitution cases.

“If there is a violation, we will process it in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” Ngurah Rai Immigration Bureau Chief Suhendra said Friday, May 3.

The two foreigners are women with the initials SEK 33 years old from Tanzania and FN 26 years old from Uganda, who are known to offer themselves online through one of the prostitution pages.

Both were arrested during the Foreigner Supervision operation and were known to have entered Indonesia on B211 index visit visas and Limited Stay Permit Card (KITAS) holders.

They were arrested along with five other foreigners, also all women, at two guest houses in the Seminyak and Kuta areas of Badung Regency.

There were also five other female foreigners with the initials JHM aged 35 years old from Tanzania for misuse of residence permits, then the initials AIK is 26 years old because he cannot show a passport.

In addition, three other foreigners arrived from Tanzania with the initials 27-year-old PRN, 29-year-old AFM and 22-year-old MJM whose immigration documents are still being examined.

Immigration intelligence and enforcement officials are still investigating all foreign nationals from the African continent.

“Currently, we are still in the process of securing the seven foreigners at the immigration office so that they can undergo further processing,” he said.

Meanwhile, based on Ngurah Rai’s immigration data, 37 foreigners were deported from Indonesia in the first quarter of 2024 for various reasons, including non-compliance with legal regulations, misuse of residence permits and becoming involved in criminal cases.

Meanwhile, Bali’s immigration bureau deported a total of 340 foreigners in 2023, and 188 foreigners were deported in 2022.
