At drupa 2024, hubergroup Germany will present its water-based and food contact packaging inks on three stands; and give four presentations on flexible, food and recyclable packaging solutions, as well as digital color communications.

Thomas Polster, Business Development Manager, Brand Owner and Global Key Account, will start with a panel discussion on “The Future of Flexible Paper Packaging” on 31st May at 2 p.m. He will discuss the opportunities and challenges of web-offset printed flexible paper packaging, how it performs and the design options available – in conversation with brand owners, paper and press manufacturers, printers and packagers.

A second presentation entitled “Inside the Box – Direct Food Contact” will be organized by junior product manager Korbinian Steigenberger on 2NL June at 11:45 am. It discusses the special features and regulatory requirements of direct food contact with printing inks and coatings, and how brand owners can balance visually appealing packaging with the demand for sustainability-oriented design.

At 4:30 PM on 4e In June, Patrick Hübel, Director of Global Product and Color Management, will unveil the licensed Hubergroup Digital Color Communication (HDCC) system. “Hit the Spot – Digital Color Communication” will use modern software solutions for capturing, digitizing and exchanging color specifications – a process intended to increase quality, speed and efficiency – and Hübel will present a way to visualize color templates digitally.

Dr. Lars Hancke will host a fourth Hubergroup event on September 6e June at 4 p.m. “Recyclable Printing Ink Solutions” will explore the role that printing inks play in material recycling, with upcoming recycling guidelines requiring packaging manufacturers to re-evaluate standard printing ink systems and propose alternative solutions.

Three stands show Hubergroup’s innovations and products in the field of food packaging. The company’s MGA portfolio will be on display at Koenig & Bauer’s stand A31-1 to A31-5 in Hall 16.

This includes the MGA NATURA fast-strike sheetfed offset series. It is designed to be printed on the outside of food packaging and will be part of the Extended Gamut System on Koenig & Bauer machines.

In addition, the MGA CONTACT direct food contact range, which claims to provide clear and secure printing on the inside of paper or cardboard food packaging, will be on display. Hubergroup experts are present to discuss 7-color printing.

In Hall 14, the Expert Srl stand (Stand D-50) will showcase hubergroup’s water-based packaging ink solutions for a range of compliant packaging. The modular HYDRO-X system offers flexibility and color intensity, with technicians demonstrating and discussing the solution.

Hubergroup’s solvent-based Gecko Bond Top packaging ink range will also be on display at the Comexi stand (Stand C-19) in Hall 10.

“Our mission goes far beyond the production of printing inks and chemicals,” explains Konstantin Schmidtke, Director of Business Development and Global Key Account Management. “We are doing groundbreaking work for the future of food packaging: sustainable, innovative and efficient.

“As an innovation partner, we strive to achieve success in the field of packaging printing in a holistic manner. At our events and stands, every visitor can form their own impression and connect with us. It is part of our mission to maintain close dialogue with our clients and develop joint solutions.”

drupa will take place in Düsseldorf from 28:00e May – 7e June.

At the same event, Fujifilm will showcase its new water-based ink; a ‘processless’ plate for offset printing; a printing press that uses dry toner for compatibility with paper packaging; and other contributions to its integrated analog offset and digital printing solutions.

LEIPA will also present its digitally printable solid board substrate. Alongside packing.digital and Xeikon, it will apply personalized images, barcodes, tracking numbers and more directly to cardboard packaging.
