The Lagos State Government aims to create sustainable wealth and employment for residents

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to strategically create sustainable prosperity and employment opportunities for Lagosians, in partnership with relevant stakeholders.

The Honorable Commissioner for Wealth and Employment Creation, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe stated this yesterday while presenting the ministry’s scorecard during the ministerial press briefing for the year 2024 to commemorate the first year in office of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s second term in Alausa, Ikeja.

He explained that the government will begin implementing the strategy document developed by the ministry, which aims to expand employment opportunities and encourage meaningful participation in wealth creation activities.

He reiterated the commitment of the ministry to provide a financial agency that would facilitate access to loans for SMEs and individuals in the context of business expansion and establishment under the umbrella of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), established to tackle unemployment and promote entrepreneurship. in the state.
Ajigbotafe alleged that the current administration has also reached out to private sectors and individuals for sponsorship or collaboration in various initiatives, programs and projects of the ministry.

He stated that it is in recognition of the fact that government alone cannot create wealth or employment for the teeming population of unemployed youth. That is why the ministry is working with private sector participants such as KPMG, First Bank, Wema and Mac Tay Associates on its projects. “Empower Lagos” initiative.

The Commissioner commended the leadership role and unwavering support of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and all other top officials for ensuring that the focus of government is on achieving a Greater LAGOS Vision.
