Mothers design for mothers – The sisters of Briton Court offer modern style for mothers and daughters

Briton Court’s bright, cheerful styles exist because sisters Stephe Ebert, Kristina Teague and Jenny Hall decided to create a capsule collection of mother and daughter designs. It would be something small: a line for the retail locations of Teague and Hall, Vann & Liv and Harrington’s, respectively. But when an influencer posted about them on social media, the requests started pouring in. For the sisters, it’s all about family – from creating the designs to the moment customers wear them.

The three share a large part of their lives together. All three have daughters, but none of their daughters have a sister, so the bond between all three households runs in so many ways.

“I think we have a very rare relationship because we are so close,” Ebert said. “Everyone says, ‘How do you get along so well with your sisters, don’t you fight and argue all the time?’ And we certainly all have our own opinions, but we’re very open to what each other has to say. I feel like we all have different strengths in our business. We turn to each other for advice on certain topics. We just listen and usually understand and know they probably have the right idea. We are very lucky.”

The dresses that captivate mothers and daughters are designed to be modern, fun and part of family memories.

“We still eat at my parents’ house on Sundays, and we all do that every Sunday,” Ebert said. “We are always together. The mom and I – it was really hard to find in the market. When little girls see it, they love it and when they see the mother’s matching dress, they say, “Mommy, you can match me!” When I think about our upbringing, I think about going out to eat, perhaps at the beach with the whole family. That’s the kind of dress I want to wear to dinner with my family or to fun events where you’re surrounded by the people you love. That was just a little bit of inspiration behind it. The match between mom and me was difficult to find there and it is intended to bring more experiences between mom and daughter.”

As mothers, the three know that someone is always watching what they do.

“Our daughters all see us going to work every day, and we’re inspired, we’re passionate about what we do,” Ebert said. “I think ultimately we would like to have them in all companies, and that will probably happen sooner or later. But I just think that’s always a good example, even in business there’s always going to be something that’s hard. And we just remind them that this is temporary. It will get better, whatever the problem may be. Just keep moving forward.”

Teague agreed.

“I think it’s important to show our kids a good work ethic, and that there are going to be obstacles and nothing in life is super easy. But if you work hard, it pays off,” she says.
