Wanted member of Gogi gang held after brief encounter in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A hardcore criminal and member of the infamous Gogi gang, who had three non-bail warrants against him and was wanted in three cases, including murder, was arrested in the national capital after a brief exchange of fire, an official of the Delhi Police said Special Cell said on Friday.

The suspect was identified as Md. Faijan aka Nanhe aka Kalu aka Goga (35) and is a resident of Sawda in Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik said that specific information had been received that Faijan would come near Japanese Park, Sector-10, Rohini, Delhi, on his black motorcycle to meet his associates at around 2.15 am on Friday .

“Based on the above information, a trap was placed at Gate No. 3 of Japanese Park, Rohini, Delhi. A motorcyclist was intercepted around 2:30 am. When he came to know that the police had surrounded him, he immediately opened fire on the police team and tried to run away,” the DCP said.

The police team also fired back in self-defense and Faijan sustained injuries on his right leg. “One advanced semi-automatic pistol used by him and three live bullets were recovered. He was transferred to Dr. BSA Hospital. Legal action is being taken against him as per law,” the DCP added.
