Pam Grier: About ‘Them’, Blaxploitation and Tarantino

Eric Deggans speaks with Pam Grier, the legendary film star of Blaxploitation, known for films from the 70s Coffee And Foxy Brown. The actress now appears in the second season of Prime Video’s horror anthology series, She: The shock. She discovered that playing the role was scarier than she expected.

“It gave me so much stress. At one point I had a nosebleed. I was shaking. I got a result of, ‘I don’t know how much I can do. But I have to finish it. I committed to it and if I can’t get them to send me to the hospital then that’s fine,” Grier joked.

The groundbreaking female action star explains the origins of the term ‘Blaxploitation’ and how she accidentally left Quentin Tarantino hanging for three weeks after he sent her his script for Jackie Brown.
