SC teen runs to motel front desk after assault

A teen ran to the front desk of a hotel to escape an alleged assault by a 45-year-old Aynor man, according to a report from the Horry County Police Department.

Dale Andrews was arrested on April 29 and taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center for alleged crimes in July. He has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual misconduct and unlawful conduct toward a child. He remains in jail on $10,000 bond.

The teen worked with Andrews mowing lawns. They usually had a third person with them, the police report said. On July 1, Andrews and the teen showed up alone. The victim said Andrews gave him a THC gummy and the couple left work and drove to Marion County.

The victim told Andrews he didn’t feel like himself and later said he was losing consciousness, the police report said. Andrews then allegedly touched the victim in a sexual manner over his clothing several times before driving to a motel in Latta.

Once at the motel, the victim ran to the front desk and asked for help. Latta police showed up and arrested Andrews.

Police reports did not explain why Andrews was arrested in Marion County in July but taken to Horry County in April.
