The Black Cats cannot finish higher than 13th in their second season in the Championship, with 18th being the lowest they can mathematically drop, although this is extremely unlikely.

The Owls are undefeated in their last five games, winning three. Danny Rohl’s men are now expected to avoid the drop after their excellent form at the end of the season.

Survival would be a remarkable achievement for the Owls considering the dismal start to their campaign under Xisco Munoz. Rohl looks like a manager who can lead a bright new era, although time will tell how his situation will develop this summer.
