THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The geriatric survey of the Ministry of Social Justice will start soon in the state. Information from citizens over 60 years old will be published on the website.

There is discussion about which department should conduct the face-to-face survey among the elderly.

The survey will include more than 40 questions aimed at understanding the socio-economic and health status of older people. Questions about the living situation, the need for help, experiences with intimidation and reliance on support from family or government.

Information for over-60s will be updated on the site every six months or annually, with local bodies overseeing this task. After receiving the death certificate, the data of deceased persons will be deleted from the site.

The website will also provide information on inpatient care providers and government services and schemes available to seniors, along with the relevant departments to contact for assistance.
