Health Spa owner Fu Shuping is facing prostitution-related crimes

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

A Farmington massage business owner is facing two charges after he was arrested by members of the Farmington Police Department earlier this week.

Fu Shuping, 52, owner of the Health Spa, located at 633 E. Main St., was arrested Tuesday, April 30, after detectives executed a search warrant at her establishment following citizen complaints about the business. According to a news release from the department, police had received information alleging sexual acts were being performed on customers at Shuping’s business.

Farmington Police Department spokesperson Shanice Gonzales said Shuping is charged with a fourth-degree felony count of accepting the earnings of a prostitute and promoting prostitution. She was booked into the San Juan County Adult Detention Center in the early morning of May 1.

Gonzales said the business was closed after Shuping’s arrest, but has not yet been shut down by police. The Health Spa is located in a nondescript stucco building next to a bicycle shop just east of downtown Farmington.

Gonzales said Farmington police have no indication that human trafficking occurred at the business, but she said they are still investigating all possibilities in the case.
