The GardenWorks Project hosts the annual spring seedling sale

Looking to purchase locally grown, organic vegetable and herb seedlings this spring? When you shop during the GardenWorks Project Spring Seedling Sale 2024, you also support the organization’s mission to end community hunger by teaching local families and communities how to grow fresh vegetables and providing donations of fresh products to local food banks – combating food insecurity. garden at a time.

The Spring Seedling Sale will be held at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, with an online pre-sale now available on the website. For every plant purchased, three plants will be donated to local families and organizations experiencing food insecurity in DuPage County, providing families in the community with greater access to fresh, healthy food.

Receive a seedling discount when you join our Food Growers Network membership program! For a $25 donation, you become part of a community dedicated to growing and donating produce to local food banks. Members also receive a free tote bag, 10 seed packets of their choice and four in-person member meetings on seasonally relevant topics. Most importantly, your $25 annual donation will directly benefit GardenWorks Project programming for families facing food insecurity.

Buy seedlings online now through May 13 at www.gardenworksproject.org/shop and pick up your order during the in-person sale on May 17-18. Stock is limited.

Pre-order pickup will take place on Friday, May 17 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, May 18 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at DuPage County Fairgrounds, Pavilion #37 at Gate W3, 2015 Manchester Road, Wheaton. From Manchester Road, near North Beverly and North Erie Street, go to Gate S3 and go straight. At the building with the colored mural, turn right and drive through Gate W3. The pavilion is on your right.

The cost is $3 per seedling; $2.50 for Food Growers Network members. Add a membership to your purchase during online or in-person checkout to receive the discount.

While shopping at GardenWorks, stop by the Flower and Plant Sale hosted by DuPage Fairgrounds and Events Center on Friday through Sunday, May 17-19, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Flowers, vegetables and herbs from Prosek’s Greenhouse in Winfield will be available. Proceeds benefit Friends of the DuPage County Fair.
