“It always intrigued me – the human body did that too, and to understand what happens through diet, and also how we metabolize nutrients in our food. Because as dietitians we usually talk about what you eat and how it affects your health. But most people don’t understand why,” says Mona Rosene. “And when I started working at ChromaDex, we delved deeper into biochemistry and cellular function. And that just increased my curiosity about how food really affects the cell and how changing your diet just a little bit can lead to better cellular health and of course better fundamental health.”

Tru Niagen, a patented NAD+ supplement from ChromaDex, supports cellular health, recovery and vitality. Although it’s backed by two Nobel Prize winners, more than thirty human clinical trials, and more than three hundred published scientific studies, Rosen admits she’s still trying to find the best approach to consumer education.

“I’m wondering how we can best communicate our niche product as it relates to our category in the NAD space, because it’s so niche in the biohacking community – they get it. (But) The general population is still trying to figure it out.

One thing Rosen said she wishes she had discovered earlier in life is committing to a 12-step program and accepting that many things in life are beyond her control.

“It was probably one of the most frightening decisions I’ve made because it’s extremely frightening to walk into the rooms of a recovery program because you think you’re the only one experiencing that at that moment and then when you actually have the courage to step into those doors, there are so many other people there who have been in the same shoes as you,” Rosen said.
