New York

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) NAMI New York State – Mental Health Support At the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the organization supports, educates and advocates. One of the goals the organization pursues is to improve the lives of people affected by mental illness.

New York State Office of Mental Health – NY.gov Text “Got5” to 741-741 and if you are a frontline worker, text “FRONTLINENY” to 741-741 for specialized support. The New York State Office of Mental Health offers webcasts, coping tips, a directory of mental health programs and more.

Local Mental Hygiene Departments| NYS Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors, Inc.- (clmhd.org)

Local mental hygiene departments provide New York State information for healthcare providers in your area. All you have to do is select the province you are in and view the most current LGU local services plan.

Talking About Postpartum Depression | Office of Women’s Health (womenshealth.gov) The Women’s Health office offers 24/7 free confidential support for pregnant and new mothers. There are also care and resources for women affected by postpartum depression (PPD). About 1 in 8 women report symptoms of PPD in the year after giving birth. Everyone experiences PPD differently. Feeling sad, anxious or overwhelmed are some of the signs. For assistance, anyone can call 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262).

NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan Outpatient Adult Psychiatry Adult Outpatient Psychiatry is one of the largest mental health care settings in New York City. Mental health services are available for people with emotional, psychiatric, behavioral, or chemical dependency problems.

NYC 988 (formerly NYC Well) Connect to healthcare via NYC988 – Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health NYC Well is a confidential helpline for people in need of crisis counseling, peer support, and ongoing mental health and substance use services. Trained advisors can provide 24-hour support in more than 200 languages. Call or text 988 or chat online at 988lifeline.org.

New York City Resource Guides and Toolkits https://mentalhealth.cityofnewyork.us/resource-guides-toolkits/ Under different tiles you will find information guides, webinars and problem overviews. The topics they cover include supporting the mental health of children seeking asylum in New York, promoting your mental health as a parent, and strategies and resources for dealing with grief and loss in faith communities.

NYC Mental Health Clubhouses Clubhouses provide free support to people living in NYC with serious mental illness. Online, it says they can get this care regardless of their insurance, immigration or housing status, or history of criminal justice involvement. NY Project HOPE Emotional Support Line Online there is NY Project HOPE, an emotional support line open seven days a week from 8am to 10pm. Counseling is free and you can also access free pamphlets.

New Jersey

Mental Health Association of New Jersey We Support Individuals (mhanj.org) In the Garden State, the Mental Health Association connects people in the community to wellness centers, support groups, training, an emotional support hotline for those in recovery and other forms of support.

Statewide Clinical Consultation and Training (SCCAT) Welcome to Trinitas CARES | Trinitas Regional Medical CenterThis program provides care to everyone in New Jersey and supports individuals with developmental mental health or behavioral crises. Employees work from regional offices and provide crisis care 24/7. Some options for those in need include immediate crisis response in family homes, residential placements, day programs, mental health providers, training for families, sponsors, service providers, psychiatric inpatient consultations.

Camden County: For those looking for new providers and locations to visit in New Jersey, Camden County offers contact lists, hotlines, school initiatives and Naloxone training.

Intensive Family Support Services of Sussex County (Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris, Inc.) MHA (mhainspire.org) Sussex County Intensive Family Support Services primarily serves northern New Jersey, providing family education, consultation, support groups, referral services and more for family members or caregivers of adults with mental illness.

Connecticut

Connecticut Behavioral Health Home CT BHH (ctintegratedcare.com) The Behavioral Health home model uses ‘person-centred’ services and focuses on the integration of primary care. This service provides support to both adults and children with mental illness.

Boys & Girls Village

Serving Connecticut’s At-Risk Children (bgvillage.org) Since its founding in 1492, the Boys & Girls Village supports families and is a leading provider of behavioral health, education and continuing planning services for Connecticut’s at-risk youth and their families. Services for the Connecticut region are family-oriented and provide evidence-based treatments.

Community Health Resources Real life. Real Hope – CHR (chrhealth.org) Community Health Resources, a behavioral health agency, offers more than 80 programs in 32 locations that provide comprehensive care management, supportive housing and primary care. They also take referrals from schools, private providers, self-referrals and GPs.

Hotlines & Other Resources

988 Lifeline for suicide and crisis 988 Suicide & Crisis Line – Call. Text. To chat. (988lifeline.org) When you call, text or chat online, the service will connect you with a trained crisis counselor. The Lifeline provides 24-hour, confidential support to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. There is also a specialist LGBTQI+ affirmative counselor by texting ‘Q’ to 988 or calling 988 and pressing ‘3’.

Veterans Crisis Line Call 988 then press ‘1’. You can also text 838255 or chat online. The Veterans Crisis Line is a confidential resource available 24 hours a day to all veterans and those who support them. This includes those who may not be registered with the VA or enrolled in VA care.

Tools and Resources for Schizophrenia Janssen Portfolio of LAIs (janssenschizofreniainjections.com) Online to support people dealing with schizophrenia and their caregivers. Some of the items available include episode action plans, a caregiver diary, and a self-care guide for caregivers.
