Emotional support Alligator stolen – reward offered

The bond between humans and animals is strong. Here in Louisiana we love our pets. About half of Louisiana households own a dog and about half of the remaining half own a cat. Then there are Louisiana residents who opt for a more exotic pet.

There are 48 species of snakes that call Louisiana home, seven of those snake breeds are venomous. Yes, you can have a pet snake in Louisiana, but there are some restrictions on exotic animals depending on the type of snake you choose. And while we in Louisiana tend to think of ourselves as the “alligator capital” of the world, we need to realize that large reptiles live in other swamps too.

Joie Henney is a native of Pennsylvania, where he and his alligator Wally call home. Joie and Wally recently visited Brunswick, Georgia. And then Wally went missing. Joie thinks his friend has been stolen and Joie wants his friend back.

Oh my God. That might be the saddest plea for a missing pet I’ve heard in a long time. Poor Joie, you can tell he really misses his friend Wally. Several people who contacted Joie about Wally noted that the reptile may not have been stolen, but may have simply escaped. Here’s Joie’s response to that.

For the record, we should say that Wally is a recognized emotional support animal. He actually seems to be very calm and docile around people. In the video below, they look like humans, but they also appear to be fans of the Philadelphia Eagles football team, so we can’t vouch for their humanity. That’s the couple who threw snowballs and batteries at Santa not long ago. But Wally seems quite comfortable in the arms of Eagles fans.

As we mentioned, a reward is offered and Joie promises to “ask no questions” for the safe return of his emotional support alligator. Some clues have been reported in the case, but so far police have not spotted any signs of alligators or received any reports from local emergency rooms about people missing arms, legs, toes or fingers.
