Michelle Keegan is hurt because she upset her family

Fool Me Once star Michelle Keegan has shared her ‘pain’ about how trolling has upset her family in the past. It’s one of the reasons why she said her mother Jacqueline won’t walk out of restaurants with her.

The former soap star, 36, is firmly back in the spotlight following the release of Netflix thriller Fool Me Once, a special drama from Harlan Coben. In the drama, she takes on the female lead role in which her character’s military husband is murdered before her eyes – but things are not as they seem, as she later sees him playing with their daughter on a nanny cam the day after his funeral.

Keegan, who is married to former TOWIE star Mark Wright, is no stranger to the bright lights of showbiz and is a natural in front of the camera with her acting work from Our Girl to Brassic, but she revealed fame isn’t always kind to her been. and her family.

Wearing his heart on his sleeve, the Netflix star – who is tipped to crack Hollywood – has revealed some of the sad realities that come with being famous. Although she is normally private about her personal life, Keegan did open up about how her fame can affect her family.

In an honest chat on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, the actor described her “pain” when negative comments upset her mother and her family. One specific incident came to mind when she mentioned that her mother no longer wants to walk her out of restaurants because of unkind comments about the photos that were taken.

The Coronation Street star said on the podcast: “I can deal with it when it’s me, but when it affects my family it’s painful. I remember one time I was getting out of a restaurant with my mom and we had our picture taken and I remember my mom read the article, I don’t know why she did that but I told her not to do that and she read the comments. That affected my mother really, really bad. Now she doesn’t want to walk out of the restaurants with me because of that reason.”

Having had plenty of experience in the spotlight herself, podcast host and TV host Cotton had a lot of sympathy when she responded: “It’s terrible for your mother.” Sweetly, Keegan agreed, saying, “I know, I know.” The Fool Me Once star said negativity has pushed her to keep her private life out of the spotlight as much as possible. She explains: “I have kept a large part of my private life private. That is a conscious choice for me. It makes me a lot happier.”

The Netflix star also discussed her own personal struggle with Imposter Syndrome, in which a person has an internalized and irrational fear of doubting their achievements. She said: “I suffer a lot from Imposter Syndrome. So I’m going to do a job, soon I’ll find a job, I don’t think I’ll ever work again. It was good while it lasted. That’s all. I am done. I always have that slight panic.
