FCTA will upgrade three hospitals

The mandate secretary of the Federal Capital Territory for Health Services and Environment, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe has revealed plans by the FCT administration to upgrade some hospitals in the area.

Fasawe reiterated the government’s determination and commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in the hospitals.

In a statement on Sunday signed by the Deputy Director of Information at the HSES, Badaru Yakasai, Fasawe disclosed this during the assessment tour by the African Union Commission delegation to Maitama and Asokoro District Hospitals in Abuja.

The Mandate Secretary, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Baba-Gana Adam, added that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, recently announced the government’s plan to upgrade some hospitals in the area with infrastructure. .

“The FCT administration has placed health as a top priority in the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, and as such, three hospitals in FCT will be facelifted to meet the standard. These hospitals are Gwagwalada, Utako and Gwarinpa General Hospitals,” she noted.

Earlier, the Acting Head of the African Union Commission Medical Laboratory, who is also the leader of the delegation, Kalifa Manneh, said the purpose of the visit is to conduct an assessment of medical and health services in the district hospitals.

Manneh further said the committee had sent an 18-member delegation to assess the FCT’s readiness to host the African Humanitarian Department.

In her welcome address, the Medical Director of Maitama District Hospital, Dr. Rita Idemudia, noted that the hospital is committed to providing affordable and accessible healthcare services using modern and appropriate technology.
