Uddhav Thackeray challenges Election Commission notice and refuses to remove ‘Hindu’ and ‘Bhavani’ from party song

UBT Shivsena leader Uddhav Thackeray informed the media that the Election Commission of India has sent him a notice directing him to remove the words ‘Hindu’ and ‘Bhavani’ from the party’s promotional song. Last week, Uddhav had released a promotional song. Uddhav vehemently opposed the report that the Election Commission dare not take action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had appealed to voters to adopt the name ‘Bajrangbali’ and cast their votes in the Karnataka elections. Besides, Amit Shah had also lured voters from Madhya Pradesh with a free tour to the Ayodhya Ram temple. Uddhav also made it clear that he will fight against notice and will not remove these two words from the promotional song.

During the press meet, Uddhav showed these two videos of Modi and Shah in which both of them are luring voters.

Uddhav said, “I see basic issues being kept aside in the campaigns and baseless issues being promoted. No one is talking about what Prime Minister has done in the last 10 years.”

While speaking at ECI announcement, he said, “Bhavani is Kuldevi of the entire Maharashtra. She had blessed Shivaji Maharaj. Even Jai Bhavani and Jai Shivaji encourage a slogan that is regularly used in Maharashtra during rallies. So what is the problem to use it in songs.” “

Uddhav Thackeray defends ‘Hindu’ word in song and criticizes ECI notice

While talking about the Hindu word, he said, “I am not looking for votes on Hindu religion through songs. The song also does not interpret that Hindus should be voted on. It should first take action against Modi and Shah.”

Rahul Shewale, a Shinde-led candidate from South Central Mumbai, termed ECI’s move as correct. He said: “ECI is an independent body and it should have taken action after finding a breach of the code of conduct.”

Maharashtra Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said, “Uddhav’s mental stability has deteriorated. This is a legitimate government. If ECI has issued a notice, it must be legal and Uddhav must adhere to it.”

Chitra Wagh criticizes Uddhav Thackeray’s use of Hindutva

BJP women’s state president Chitra Wagh said, “Uddhav Thackeray left Hindutwa years ago and he should not have the right to use it. If ECI takes action, it should be lawful action.”

Uddhav Thackeray last week launched “Dhag Dhagati Petu de Mashal”, a one-minute song. The main intention of the song was to make people aware of the party symbol ‘Flaming torch’. Uddhav also wanted to differentiate between the symbol used by the ECI on the EVM machine and that used earlier by the party. A song also features visuals of late Shivsena Supremo Bal Thackeray with a flaming torch. Song also contains images of aggressive Shivsena workers and Aditya and Uddhav Thackeray.
