Food and Drink Festivals and Events Fund announced

The small grant scheme will support festivals and events to add value to the industry in Wales while improving visitor access to and awareness of Welsh food and drink.

The Fund will help deliver key actions in the Welsh Government’s ‘Vision for the Food and Drink Industry’.

It also aims to encourage collaboration between Welsh hospitality and food and drink establishments to source more local food and drink, and to increase the prevalence of Welsh food and drink on menus and retail offerings.

The subsidy scheme is open for applications between May 1, 2024 and June 7, 2024 for interested organizations that want to participate and can demonstrate that their project/event will deliver the established results of the scheme between May 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.

The Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, Huw Irranca Davies, said:

This fund will support food festivals and events with innovative ideas about promoting Welsh food and drink.

Wales’ food and drink is going from strength to strength and there are some new and exciting high quality products available. I’m pleased to announce that this program is now open, to support festivals and events in showcasing the excellent quality of food and drink we have here in Wales.

The aim of the program is to create greater connections between food festivals and events with agriculture, food processing, tourism destinations and the food service sector. This allows us to benefit from the economic benefits while offering visitors a unique, high-quality and distinctive cultural experience.
