TTG – Noticeboard – New experiences and properties from Audley Travel

Audley Travel adds a ‘new’ area of Australia’s Victoria Territory and an alternative safari outside Africa in Borneo.

Bespoke travel company Audley Travel has expanded its 2024 program with the addition of a ‘new’ area in Australia’s Victoria Territory and an alternative safari outside Africa in Borneo.

More to discover in Victoria

New to Audley’s clients traveling to Australia is Metung Hot Springs, overlooking the East Gippsland Lakes, Victoria, where clients enjoy glamping accommodation nestled in the natural environment of the hot springs. Clients stay in luxury safari-style tents with en suite bathrooms, a king-size four-poster bed and a private swimming barrel on a personal terrace overlooking the lagoon.

The addition of the property to the portfolio opens up the East Gippsland region, where customers can now explore the lakes, 90 miles of beach, pristine islands, rivers, wetland wilderness, beautiful Buchan Caves and native flora and fauna.

Alternative safari

Tabin Rainforest Lodge in Borneo offers the opportunity to venture into the remote wilderness where some of Borneo’s rarest and endangered wildlife live. The lodge, with 12 en suite rooms and a strong ecotourism ethos, is located in Sungai Kapur’s Virgin Jungle Reserve, in the northeast corner beyond Tabin Nature Reserve. The lodge is a luxurious oasis from which you can safari through ancient mangrove forests and uncharted jungles, teeming with Bornean birds that are a must-see for bird watchers.

The protected area is home to endemic species including the proboscis monkey, Bornean orangutan, sun bear, Bornean ground cuckoo and the elusive helmeted hornbill.

Audley’s clients enjoy a three-day, two-night stay at the lodge with river cruises, a night walk, a game drive and trekking, with the option to add an extra night. The route takes guests to the lodge’s mammal hide and to the ground cuckoo hide, to photograph the bird. River cruises offer the chance to see flying foxes, eagles and the rare Irrawaddy dolphin, and night walks are rewarded with possible sightings of civets, leopard cats, mouse deer and moon rats.
