86% of companies see a positive relationship between sustainability and profitability

New Delhi: About 86 percent of Indian organizations see a moderate to strong relationship between sustainability and the profitability of their business, a new report said on Monday.

According to major cloud software company SAP, 77 percent of Indian companies have seen sustainability strategies contribute moderately or strongly to outcomes such as revenue or profit growth.

“Sustainability is now a business imperative rather than just a moral imperative. It can no longer be separated from the company’s overall financial performance,” said Manish Prasad, president and MD, SAP Indian Subcontinent. “It is clear from the findings of our research that companies that prioritize sustainability are more successful,” he added.

Furthermore, the report states that 58 percent of Indian companies expect a positive financial return on their sustainability investments within the next five years.

About 39 percent of companies plan to invest more in sustainability over the next three years.
