Bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan has expressed support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s position. on the West Philippine Sea.

Marcos has vowed to defend the Philippines’ maritime zones after Chinese ships collided with Philippine vessels in the disputed West Philippine Sea, injuring Filipino soldiers and damaging ships.

Pangilinan-chaired PXP Energy Corp. has faced hurdles in carrying out drilling exploration in Service Contract 72, commonly referred to as Recto Bank, due to ongoing territorial disputes with China in the West Philippine Sea.

“Sino ang di maiinis…I can understand how the president feels about it. We fully support what he has done and he has made the right decisions,” Pangilinan said.

Pangilinan is hopeful that China will be more receptive because “we are not a threat to them in these situations.”

Both Service Contract 72 and Service Contract 75 remain under force majeure. PXP Energy Corp. previously announced its intention to maintain coordination with the government through Forum Energy Limited to explore the possible resumption of operations in those regions.
