BAGALKOT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his tirade against the Congress, accusing the party of indulging in the politics of Islamic appeasement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of aligning itself with hardcore anti-social elements to appease minorities.

Addressing a mega election rally in Bagalkot on Monday, he referred to the Neha Hiremath murder case in Hubballi, and the Nagarathpet incident in Bengaluru, where some men allegedly thrashed a shopkeeper for playing Hanuman Chalisa, and the bomb blast at Rameshwaram Café in Bengaluru. .

“All these incidents prove that Congress has always backed hardcore elements. The Congress has promoted and protected hardcore elements to ensure that minority votes remain intact,” Modi said.

He claimed that after losing SC, ST and OBC MPs to the BJP, the Congress is now frustrated and has decided to keep Muslims happy. It is a conspiracy to take away reservations and other benefits and give them to Muslims, he said.

“SC/STs and OBCs must remain alert. Congress is conspiring to take away your rights. The Constitution of India is against making reservations on religious grounds. But the Congress always mentions it in its manifesto and promises reservation on religious grounds,” Modi said.

‘Cong runs extortion racket’

He accused the Karnataka government of looting the state and said the party is engaging in extortion practices. He alleged that the state coffers have become empty after the Congress came to power and according to his internal information, the government will soon run out of money even to pay salaries of employees.

“Today, the Congress government has no money to offer MLAs for local area development. Soon the government will even have no money to pay the salaries of government employees. Children of workers will die,” Modi said.

“The Congress is preventing the implementation of centrally sponsored irrigation projects. By doing this, injustice is being done to the farmers of Karnataka,” he said, but did not clarify which irrigation project it is.

‘Tech hub to tanker hub’

Modi accused the Congress government of “converting the technology hub Bengaluru into a tanker hub Bengaluru”, and said it had failed to address the city’s drinking water problem. “The tanker mafia rules in the state capital. The Congress government is taking commission from this mafia,” he said.

Modi invoked India’s airstrike on Balakot in Pakistan, five years after the incident, claiming that some people were confused about Balakot and Bagalkot at the time. “Since some people did not know where Balakot was, they thought the airstrike on Bagalkot had taken place. There was confusion for about 45 minutes,” he said.

Tribute to Prasad

Prime Minister Modi paid tributes to former Union minister and BJP MP from Chamarajnagar V Srinivas Prasad, who passed away in Bengaluru on Monday. Modi described Prasad as a leader who strived for the welfare of the poor, Dalits and the oppressed and called Prasad a good colleague.
